CABAC URD Connection System
An innovative, cost-effective solution for the termination of underground power distribution.
The elimination of heavy tooling and specific crimping equipment is a major benefit of this innovative product line, plus the lack of heat shrinking in the installation process, especially welcome when fire bans are everpresent.
The key component of the system is a new connection lug range incorporating shear head technology. Taking 185 to 240 mm2 cable, solid or stranded, sector or round cable, the connector utilises a terminal block built into the lug palm incorporating 3 range taking interconnection tunnels for the attachment of customer services and the connection points for earthing or cross road solutions.
Each phase is contained within a separate modular junction box that has been specifically designed to hold the required number of cable lugs in either single or looped pillar arrangements. This innovative junction box is moulded from glass-filled nylon and has been designed to meet exacting specifications and requirements including live connections, possible with the use of insulated tooling.
The system has been tested to AS4325 utilising all cable types and configurations and throughout the design process has exhibited in-use temperature rises far less than conventional systems.
